Manager/Supervisor
The Training & Development Supervisor is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing training programs for employees involved in the manufacturing of Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) through the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly process. This role ensures workforce competence and compliance with industry standards by delivering technical training, assessing employee skill levels, and maintaining training records. As a leader for the Training & Development Department, the ideal candidate must be an IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) and possess extensive knowledge of SMT processes, quality standards, and electronic assembly best practices.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct technical training programs for employees involved in PCB assembly, focusing on SMT processes and IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Act as the lead instructor for IPC-A-610 training, certifying operators and technicians in compliance with IPC standards.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, audits, and feedback to ensure employees meet required competency levels.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to identify training needs and develop tailored programs.
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in training methodologies and materials to enhance learning effectiveness.
  • Ensure training content aligns with the latest industry standards, company procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Mentor and coach employees to improve their technical skills and adherence to best practices.
  • Support new hire orientation and refresher training for existing employees.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to PCB assembly.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in electronics manufacturing, IPC standards, and SMT technology.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, specifically in PCB assembly and SMT processes.
  • Proven experience in technical training, instructional design, or employee development within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of IPC-A-610 standards, SMT assembly, soldering, and rework/repair techniques.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively train and mentor employees.
  • Ability to develop training materials, SOPs, and instructional guides.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training programs simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MasterControl Document Control platform, and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus.
  • Experience w/Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
